What is Kelp Jerky?

Kelp Jerky is a delicious protein-packed snack made of sustainably harvested sugar kelp and top quality shiitake and crimini mushroom stems from all over the Northeast. Kelp Jerky is vegan, and free of dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, and gluten.

Kelp Jerky is the first product from Beyond the Shoreline and our mission is to create the world's best tasting plant-based food products made from sustainably harvested, ocean seagreens.

We are proud to tell you that kelp jerky is a zero waste food product. We use kelp stipes and mushroom stems to make our jerky that would otherwise be thrown out but are still deliciously edible and nutritious.

Our first batch of Kelp Jerky will be ready in spring 2017 after we harvest our sugar kelp from Greenwave’s kelp farm in Connecticut.

Want to visit the farm and support the future of ocean farming? Join us for our charity bike ride next May! Signup to our mailing list for more details.

Testimonials

I was prepared to come up with a nice response after eating this, but actually, it’s really rather delightful. It’s incredibly delicious. Well done.

Sir Richard Branson

WOW! This is really good. I thought I knew everything you could do with seaweed! Can I have some more?

Haru Kishi, Summit’s Executive Chef

Mmm, yeah, this is really good. You should make kelp biltong next.

Kimball Musk, co-founder of The Kitchen

Why Kelp?

Kelp contains more vitamin C than orange juice, more calcium than milk, and more protein than soybeans.

In fact is it the highest source of plant protein.

Also it has 70 vitamins, enzymes, minerals, Omega 3s, and antioxidants including: B1, B12, B2, calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium.

Eating kelp cuts our rate of fat absorption by 75% because of its content of soluble fiber.

Kelp is high in iodine, which increases energy, improves cognitive function and hair growth, and optimizes the thyroid and metabolic functions.

Kelp is vegan, gluten-, and soy-free, and low in calories, and it highly nourishing and filling.
